Bishop: Fr. John Cummins "Not Just A Good Priest, He Was A Great One".

The Bishop of Kildare Leighlin has described Fr. John Cummins as “not just a good priest, he was a great one”.

The Newbridge native was killed in an accident at the parochial house in Abbeyleix on Wednesday.

Funeral Mass took place at his parish church on Sunday.

Mass was also held in St. Conleth’s Parish Church, Newbridge today.

Bishop Denis Nulty delivered the homily:

“I welcome you all very warmly as we gather on this very crisp February morning, the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple, to pay a faith-filled farewell to John Cummins.  Father John was Parish Priest here in Abbeyleix for eighteen months.  Having served for four years in Naas; five years pursuing further studies in Rome;
