PB Crown Club members travel to Europe’s Christmas markets

Relyance Bank Crown Club members and guests recently departed Pine Bluff and Hot Springs Village for “Christkindlesmarkt” — the festive Christmas markets in Austria and Germany.

According to a news release, “after their overnight flight, they arrived at their destination for the next five days in the stunning city of Innsbruck, Austria, the provincial capital of Tyrol. Innsbruck impressed with a beautiful medieval Old Town paired with stunning architecture, all surrounded by the majestic Austrian Alps. The Crown Clubbers had some free time to explore Innsbruck and the markets before joining their fellow travelers for a welcome dinner.’

The next morning the group experienced an “Austrian Breakfast,” which consisted of Semmeln, a type of home-baked bread roll, butter, cold cuts (ham, smoked bacon called Speck, salmon, cut sausages) eggs, a variety of cheeses, cakes and pastries, homemade jams, coffee and orange juice.

After breakfast, some in the group joined a local guide to discover Innsbruck’s history, culture and popular attractions including Mari-Theresien-Strasse, the triumphant entrance into the medieval Innsbruck, and the Hofburg, the former Habsburg Imperial Palace. They also saw the Golden Roof, considered the city’s most famous symbol. The roof is decorated with 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles to mark Emperor Maximilian I wedding to Bianca Maria Sforza in 1500.

Others in the group embarked on a guided tour focusing on the city’s unique architectural structures, along with many historical buildings as well. The architectural group also took a round-trip cable car ride between Innsbruck’s city center and the Nordkette.
