CONWAY, Ark. (October 31, 2018) – The Hendrix Players present Passion Play Part I by Sarah Ruhl, Wednesday
through Saturday, November 7-10, 2018. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through
Friday, and 2 p.m. Saturday. Performances are free and open to the public, but
reservations are recommended.

Ruhl’s three-part script dramatizes players rehearsing their
annual staging of the Passion in three different communities: in 1575 Northern
England, after Queen Elizabeth outlaws the depiction of religious drama; in 1934
Oberammergau, Bavaria, as Hitler is rising to power; and in Spearfish, South
Dakota, from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. Each period finds the players
grappling with the intersection of ego, spirituality, and art during times of
great political change.

Passion Play Part I, presented in November, is the
first of three related productions this academic year. Part II will be presented in February 2019, and an open reading of Part III will occur later in the Spring
semester.
