Cruises cancelled as Hurricane Irma tears through the region
Cruise tours, holidays and flights have been cancelled as Hurricane Irma continues to tear through the Caribbean and the United States’ coast, including Florida and possibly Miami and Cuba, killing at least 11 people.
Several international cruises have been cancelled while others have had their routes shifted after worries of the impact of Hurricane Irma in the area.
Carnival Cruise Line has taken to social media as well as their own website to communicate their monitoring of the situation.

“The safety and security of our guests and team members are our first priority and our ships will remain a safe distance away from the storm at all times,” the cruise company said in a statement.
Five of their cruses have been cancelled, while others have been affected by the unpredictability of the storm.
A list of cancelled cruises include:
- Carnival Liberty – Sept. 7 three-day Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral
- Carnival Victory – Sept. 8 three-day Bahamas cruise from Miami
- Carnival Splendor – Sept. 9 – five-day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Everglades
- Carnival Ecstasy – Sept. 9 – six-day Bahamas cruise from Charleston
- Carnival Liberty – Sept. 10 – four-day Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral
