Musical concert set for Sept. 22 at First Christian
Ed and Ruth Voosen will present a concert of music and entertainment for the family at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at First Christian Church in Tullahoma.
Songs will include folk and traditional country, show tunes and sing-a-longs.
First Christian Church is located at 120 W. Grundy Street. The concert will take place on the “DOC” of the church annex (the old post office building). Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and enjoy the music under the stars. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved into the sanctuary. The public is invited.
Ed Voosen was born and raised in New York City, where he attended Brooklyn Tech, Pratt Institute and Wagner College. He received his Master of Divinity from Princeton and New York Theological Seminaries and was ordained by the Lutheran Church. His first parish was in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1974 he was called to Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn, Massachusetts, where he served as pastor until his retirement in 2010.
In 1980 (before the IBM PC existed), he initiated the use of computers in the Bethel church office, an innovation that was written “Time” magazine, “The Lutheran” magazine and The Worcester Telegram and Gazette.
As a child, Ed studied guitar and performed on the Steel Pier and Hotels Concord, Pierre, Waldorf-Astoria and Grossingers. The Capitols, the band in which he played, appeared twice on the Ted Mack Amateur Hour on CBS. Ed belonged to a folk
