Rome’s Raap offers tribute to Tribune editor
Old Guy thinks you should know that a vital cog in the ever-rotating wheel that is this Daily Tribune newspaper will be departing for greener pastures next Friday.
Mystique Macomber, interim general editor and features editor, will continue to reside in our area, as she explores a new employment opportunity in our town. The loss to our readers and to Old Guy’s musings in these very pages, however, will be huge.
If Old Guy’s columns are something you’ve looked forward to every other Friday for lo these many years, you can, in large part, thank Mystique for not only allowing my rapscallion ramblings, but for cleaning them up, word- and punctuation-wise. She has kept me out of trouble more than once, yet allows me to express my opinions — even if that sometimes requires my column to appear on the editorial page, rather than on this Rome page.
And speaking of Rome — while I make attempts to feature our fair town in my column whenever I can, it doesn’t take an expert editor to realize that more and more of my columns have taken on a more personal tone, as I frequently feature the comings and goings of my partners for life — Still-Young Bride and Zoey-cat.
